ur coordinators build the day around your muhurat and your pandit, imam or granthi, following your family’s order of events.
Exchange vows with the Long Island Sound behind your mandap, with an indoor backup always planned. Receptions for up to 300 guests.
Our on-site kitchen offers Indian-inspired stations, vegetarian and Jain-friendly dishes, and halal-style options, all with transparent pricing.
A South Asian wedding is rarely one event. There’s the baraat, the ceremony, a cocktail hour, a grand entrance, speeches, family performances and hours of dancing, often after a Mehndi or Sangeet the night before. Sharing a building with another party makes that harder.
Soundview Caterers sits on the Gold Coast of Long Island’s North Shore in Bayville, and we host one celebration at a time. Your family has the waterfront, the ballroom, the cocktail room and our whole team for the day. You have one coordinator, one contract and one place for everything.
Mehndi Night: bright colors, lounge seating, henna artists, music and chaat, with a stage for family dances.
Sangeet: a night of performances from both families, with stage, sound and lighting cues planned so every rehearsed number gets its moment.
Haldi & Gaye Holud: a relaxed daytime celebration full of marigolds and yellow, ideal in a brunch-style setup.
Baraat & Milni: the groom’s arrival with dhol and dancing. We build time and space into the schedule for the procession and the welcome at the door.
Hindu Ceremony: jaimala, kanyadaan, pheras and saptapadi under your mandap, by the water or indoors, timed with your pandit.
Nikah, Walima & Receptions: elegant Nikah ceremonies, generous Walimas, and grand receptions with a stage for the couple and a full dance floor.
Soundview overlooks the Long Island Sound in Bayville, on the North Shore’s historic Gold Coast. It’s a scenic drive from South Asian communities across Nassau County, including Hicksville, New Hyde Park and Westbury, and easy to reach from Queens, Suffolk County and New York City.
We plan for the way South Asian weddings run. That means long days, multiple outfit changes, big guest lists and a baraat that needs room to dance. Our team builds the timeline so your photographers, décor team, DJ and dhol players all know the plan, including when the ceremony space turns into the reception.
We welcome celebrations from across South Asia, including Gujarati, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali and Marathi weddings, Pakistani Mehndi, Barat and Walima events, Bangladeshi Gaye Holud and Bou Bhat receptions, Sikh receptions after the Anand Karaj, and interfaith and fusion weddings that blend two traditions.
At a South Asian wedding, the food matters as much as the décor. Our on-site kitchen prepares everything fresh, and our chefs build the menu around your family’s favorites. Options include chaat and street-food stations, tandoori-style kebabs and paneer tikka, biryani and curries, full vegetarian and Jain-friendly menus, halal-style preparations for a Nikah or Walima, and mithai, kulfi and a masala chai bar.
Mixed guest lists are easy too. Pair Indian stations with our signature Soundview menu of Mezze, seafood and carving stations. Every package includes event coordination, tables, chairs and linens, and a clear contract with no surprise fees. Bring your own mandap designer, florist, DJ, dhol players, mehndi artist and photographers, and we’ll coordinate load-in and timing with each of them.
When the reception ends, keep going with an extra hour in our After Party Lounge. The cocktail room becomes a nightclub with LED-illuminated lounge furniture, your choice of exit station, and the open bar and DJ continuing (with Ultimate Sound DJs).
From First Tour to Final Dance
Visit the waterfront and share your muhurat or preferred dates, a guest count estimate and the events you’re planning.
Taste your menu, finalize floor plans and walk through the baraat, ceremony and grand entrance timing with your vendors.
Your coordinator runs the day, from the first dhol beat to the last dance, so your family can enjoy every ritual.
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. Many South Asian families hold the Mehndi or Sangeet the evening before the wedding and the ceremony and reception the next day. Because Soundview hosts one event at a time, the venue is dedicated to your family for each booking, and we plan every event together so the décor, menus and timing feel connected. Ask about pairing a Friday pre-wedding event with a Saturday or Sunday wedding.
Our ballroom comfortably hosts celebrations of up to about 300 guests with a full dance floor. South Asian guest lists tend to grow, so share a working estimate at your first tour. We’ll walk you through floor plans for a seated dinner, a stage for the couple and room for family performances.
Yes. Couples love exchanging vows with the Long Island Sound behind the mandap. Your mandap designer sets up the structure, and we coordinate timing, seating, sound and the turnover from ceremony to reception. For every outdoor ceremony we plan an indoor backup so the weather never decides your muhurat. If your ceremony includes a sacred fire, we’ll confirm the safe setup with you, your pandit and your mandap vendor.
Absolutely. Whether the groom arrives on foot with a dhol player, in a vintage car or on horseback, we build time and space into the schedule for the procession, the milni and the welcome at the door. Some elements, such as live animals, may require vendor insurance or local approvals, and we’ll help you plan for them.
Our culinary team builds menus around your family. That can mean Indian-inspired stations alongside American favorites, a fully vegetarian dinner, Jain-friendly dishes without onion or garlic, or halal-style preparations for a Nikah or Walima. Bring your must-have dishes and we’ll build the tasting around them. All food is prepared by our in-house team for quality and licensing, so talk to us during your consultation about any special dishes or sweets.
South Asian weddings are often planned around an auspicious date chosen with a priest or the family, so reach out as soon as you have your muhurat or a shortlist of dates. Spring and fall weekends typically book 12–18 months ahead. Friday and Sunday dates, and winter months, often offer more flexibility.
